Brad Pierce, CEM, is the External Affairs Officer for FEMA’s National Incident Management Assistance Team – Red. This includes managing response-related federal Emergency Support Function (ESF) 15: External Affairs elements during major disaster declarations. Brad has been deployed to Florida to respond to Hurricanes Helene and Milton and spoke to our Chapter about the situation there and some of the impacts of politics, misinformation, and special visits.
Additionally, here are some JSU-IAEM Updates/Reminders:
Please update your chapter membership form [SURVEY:90329]!
Volunteer Opportunities:
Certification Training Program
What you’ll do: Volunteers will take FEMA IS Courses to ensure we answer the various exam questions correctly. Using these, we will create our question bank to base the curriculum.
What you’ll do: volunteers are needed to help register storm damage through Crisis Cleanup’s virtual platform, providing information to VOADs to deploy aid.
Spanish speakers are especially needed, but all help is valuable.
